Clampitt Gets the Decision Last Night in Cranston RI
Main Event – Lightweights – 8 Rounds – Jaime Clampitt of Warwick, RI went the distance against Tayna Cardosa of Brazil. Clampitt the more experienced fighter in the ring dominated and controlled the bout. While there were no knock downs, Clampitt out boxed Cardosa and won by UD. All judges scored the bout 79-73. Clampitt increased to 24-6-2, 7 Kos and Cardosa decreased to 5-3, 1 Ko.
Co-Main Event - Featherweights – 6 Rounds – Alejandro Paulino of New London, CT kept his perfect record against Derrick Murray of St. Louis, MO when Paulino landed and dropped Murray to the canvas and the referee stopped the bout at 2:44 of round 1 and increased his record to 12-0, 10 Kos. Murray was upset by the stoppage and decreased his record to 17-8-1, 6 Kos.
Cruiserweights – 6 Rounds – Gary Balletto Jr of Cranston, RI won by decision while controlling the bout up until the 6th round when Raphael Torres of Marlborough, MA came out of the corner strong and tried to win the round/bout. By the end of the bout, Torres had a bloody nose and changed stances. There were no Ko’s and the judges scored the victory for Balletto, 60-54; 59-55 and 59-55. Balletto increased to 4-0, 2 Kos and Torres suffered his 1st loss with a new record of 2-1, 2 Kos.
Junior Middleweights – 6 Rounds – Fan favorite Anthony “ATV” Velasquez of Springfield, MA kept his perfect record and his Ko count went up again when he dropped multitude of punches on Rodrigo Rodrigues of Brazil during the 1st round. The referee called off the bout at 1:58 of round 1. Velasquez increased to 12-0, 11 KOS and Rodriguez decreased to 8-5, 7 Kos.
Welterweights – 4 Rounds – Jesus Salas of New Bedford, MA against Jeff Gonzalez. This bout wasn’t as action packed as I would like. Not too much engaging. After 4 rounds the judges scored the bout 39-37 for Gonzalez; 39-37 for Salas and 39-37 for Gonzalez. Gonzalez gets the split decision victory and increased to 2-0 and Salas decreased to 1-2 1 Ko.
Super Middleweights – 4 Rounds – James Maner of Johnston, RI went the distance against Garrett Desilets of Fall River, MA. Desilets made his pro debut and lost every round while getting the count during round 1. Maner had the height advantage and controlled the bout. After the 4 rounds the judges scored the bout 40-35; 40-35 and 40-35. Maner increased to 3-0, 2 Kos and Desilets 0-1.
