Boston, MA - Everyone was Irish at the Murphy’s Boxing card held at the House of Blues in Boston, Massachusetts. Staring the main event was Mark DeLuca who put his NABA Junior Middleweight Champion, Massachusetts on the line against someone who was looking to take that title away, Jimmy Williams of Connecticut. The fight wasn’t as action packed as I would like. There was holding from both sides. DeLuca was covering well. Williams doesn’t seem to be hurting DeLuca. Round 9 seemed to me to be the best round for DeLuca. Williams ended up with a bloody nose. There were no knockdowns. After 10 rounds with DeLuca controlling the fight, making it his fight the judges scored it UD 99-91; 100-90; 100-90 for DeLuca. DeLuca advances to 23-1, 13 Kos and Williams 16-2-1, 5 Kos.

Gary ‘Spike’ O’Sullivan of Ireland met up against Worcester’s Khiary “Too Sharp” Gray who had Irvin Gonzalez’s dad working the corner in the co-main event. The 1st and 2nd round Gray looked great. Shooting body/head combinations trying to open up O’Sullivan. Gray’s stance was wide. Then the 3rd round Gray suffered a cut near the left eye. That cut may have changed the momentum for Gray. As the bout continued O’Sullivan started to piece apart Gray digging into the body. Round 5, Gray now have cuts around both eyes. By the 6th round, O’Sullivan is dominating the round and Gray’s face is a bloody mess. At 2:07 referee Steve Clark stopped the bout and O’Sullivan increased to 30-3, 21 Kos and Gray 16-5, 12 Kos.

Undefeated NABA Light Heavyweight southpaw Champ Charles Foster of Connecticut met up with power puncher, Mike Jimenez of Chicago. 1st round Jimenez landed a great uppercut on Foster. Round 2 Foster has a welt under his right eye. Foster continuously holding off Jimenez with the jab while Jimenez trying to get in. Foster dictating the round. At one point, referee Mike Ryan gave Jimenez a standing 8 count, then let the bout continue and the referee stopped the bout again. It might have been an early stoppage to some. Foster keeps his belt and increased to 18-0, 9 Kos and wins by a TKO in round 9 and Jimenez 22-2-2, 14 Kos.

Joe Farina of South Boston took on Steve Moore or Orange, NJ. The entire fight between these two welterweights were back and forth with each fighter landing, but didn’t look like it effected either fighter. Farina out worked Moore in the fight and the UD was clear across the board 40-36; 40-36; 40-36 in favor of Farina. Farina increased to 5-1, 3 Ko and Moore 1-7, 1 Ko.

Making his pro debut was welterweight James Perella, Jr. of Mansfield, Massachusetts. Perella has a great amateur back ground and it showed when he met up against Bruno Dias of Woburn, Ma. During the 1st round, Dias was down 3x and in the 2nd round down from a hook. Referee Steve Clark stopped the bout at .13 of round 2 and Perella gets his TKO victory and is now 1-0, 1 Ko and Dias 0-3.
