Results & Pics from 2nd Annual Willie Pep Invitational

[Hartford, Connecticut] The 2nd annual “Willie Pep” Invitational went off without incident last night at the Hartford Convention Center, Hartford, Connecticut. The best of the best fighters were on hand but before the bouts took place an amazing dinner was served. I have to say it was very delicious. Once the bouts started it was back and forth action all nights with all the fighters letting their hands go. The purpose of this show is to honor Connecticut’s own International Boxing Hall of Famer Willie Pep and his family, and to showcase today’s talented amateur boxers.

On hand from the IBF I saw Daryl Peoples and Lyndsey E. Tucker. I also saw some pro’s in the crowd, Shelly Vincent, Tony Grano, Marcia Agripino and Richey Rivera aka Popeye to name a few.

Winner by Decision – Orta. Orta had a point deduction taken away for holding in the 2nd round. BIG height difference.

Winner by Decision – Paulino. This was the Bout of the night and they were awarded THE JOHNNY DUKE MOST OUTSTANDING BOUT AWARD. The award, each fighter received a lead crystal cup and it was a beauty. This was my favorite fight of the night. The runner up was Joseph Orosco vs. Carlos Castillo.

HAMPTON MILLER – TOE 2 TOE BOXING VS. DEMEK EDMONDS – WORC BOYS/GIRLS CLUB.

Winner by Decision – Edmonds. Miller received the count 2x in round 2 and once in round 3.
