PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Main event Jimmy Williams of New Haven didn’t take any time off from his last fight against Issouf Kinda a few weeks ago when he met up against "The Beast" Juan Rodriguez Jr. of New Jersey to defend his WBC USNBC welterweight title.

Williams controlling the matchup and knockdown Rodriguez in the 2nd.

The fight went the distance of the scheduled 10 rounds in the welterweight matchup. Williams won by UD and kept his belt. Judges scored the bout 98-91, 97-92, 96-93. Williams advances to 15-0-1, 6 Kos.

Originally Rodriguez was scheduled to fight Khiary Gray of Worcester, Massachusetts but due to an injury Williams stepped in. [CLICK HERE to hear about Gray’s injury]

Lightweights – 6 Rounds: Anthony Marsella Jr. of Providence, RI. vs Israel Rojas of Sonora, Mexico. Marsella with the height advantage while jabbing his way in. Marsella trying to knock down Rojas in the 2nd, but the bell saved him. Marsella dropped Rojas to the canvas in the 3rd and the 4th. Referee Joey Lupino stopped the bout at 1:47 of round 4 of 6. Marsella won by tko and increased to 6-0, 3 kos.

Junior middleweights - Rounds - Ray Oliviera Jr., of New Bedford met up with David Wilson from Meriden, Conn. Both fighters not afraid to throw any punches or let their hands go. Both fighters had their moments. Underneath Oliviera’s left eye ended up swollen. By the 6th round both fighters were exhausted but still trying to knock each other out. Both with great chins. Judges scored the bout 58-56 for Oliviera; 59-55 for Wilson and 58-56 for Oliviera by split decision. Oliviera increased to 8-1, 1 ko and Wilson 5-2-1, 1 ko. [Some were saying Wilson won]

Bantamweight – Females - 4 Rounds: Marcia Agripino of Groton, Connecticut vs. Federica Bianco of New York. After 4 solid rounds for Bianco and Agripino’s face not looking to pretty the judges scored the bout for Bianco, 39-37; 39-37 and 40-36 by UD. Agripino now 1-1-1.

Middleweights – 6 Rounds - Kendrick “Peppa” Ball Jr., of Worcester, Massachusetts took on Pablo Velez Jr., of Durham, N.C. Velez who had more experience in the ring over Ball and Velez was the jokester. Velez Luring Peppa in but Ball didn’t want any part of it and decided to let his hands go instead. Not a really busy fight. Ball landing the cleaner shots. Ball winning the fight on the judges score card 40-36; 40-36; 40-36 and increased to 8-0-2, 5 Kos.

Welterweights - 4 Rounds: Marqus Bates of Taunton, Massachusetts faced Travis Demko of Stoughton, Mass. Back n forth action the entre bout. Round 3, Demko stunned Bates with a body shot and tried to finish off Bates but couldn’t. After 4 rounds and a split decision for Demko later. Judges scored the bout 39-37, 37-39 for Demko, 39-37 for Bates. Demko increased to 5-1, 1 ko and Bates 2-2, 2 kos.

Junior Welterweights – 4 Rounds – Jamaine Ortiz of Worcester, Massachusetts was in complete control the entire fight against Darnell Pettis of Ohio. Ortiz switching between orthodox and southpaw, Ortiz keeps pop shooting Pettis, controlling the bout, being the aggressor of the two. Pettis is one tough kid. Ortiz keeps landing and landing, taking the life out of Pettis and he’s still standing. At the end of round 3, Pettis retired at the stool the fight was called off. Wise choice by Pettis. Ortiz increased to 5-0, 4 kos.

Super featherweights - 4 Rounds - Michael “Bling Bling” Valentin of Providence, Rhode Island met up with Henry Garcia of New Bedford, Massachusetts. [CLICK HERE for Bling Bling’s interview prior to this bout]. Valentin doing body/head combinations. Bling Bling dropped Garcia with a left hook in round 2, wanted to finish him but into round 3 we went. Garcia has a ton of heart and was trying in the ring but was out classed. Judges scored the bout 39-36, 40-35, 40-35 all in favor for Valentin by UD. Valentin increased to 2-0, 1 ko and Garcia 0-1.

Featherweights – 4 Rounds - Ricky Delossantos of Providence, Rhode Island took on Jonathan Perez of Lowell, Mass. Delossantos setting up Perez with the jab early while coming forward. Delossantos keeps wearing down Perez. After 4 rounds all the judges scored the bout 40-36 in favor of Delossantos. Delossantos increased to 3-0 and Perez to 2-2-2, 2 kos.

Cruiserweights – 4 Rounds: Both fighters making their pro debut, both from Worcester, Mass., Jake Paradise and Rafiel Nyakoko. Round 2 Nyakako kept on landing right after right hooks and tossed in a left. Paradise stayed on his two feet but didn’t do much. Referee Joey Lupino stopped the bout at 2:36. Nyakoko winning by TKO.

Featherweights – 4 Rounds - Phil Dudley of Providence, R.I. vs. Philip Davis of Worcester, Massachusetts. In the 2nd round Dudley took the standing 8 count. Both fighters fought back n forth action. After 4 rounds the judges scored the bout all in favor of Davis 39-38 by UD. Davis increased to 1-1 and Dudley 1-1.
