Remillard Scores the TKO Victory; Williams and Salinas Scores the UD and Todd Gets the KO Victory in
MAIN EVENT: Lightweights – 8 Rounds: Matt "Sharp Shooter" Remillard the former WBC Youth, USNBC, NABF & NABO Champ of Manchester, CT vs. Fatiou Fassinou the former WBC International Silver Champ from Benin. Remillard clearly controlling the bout while either backing up Fassinou or Fassinou backing himself up. Right at the end of round 2 Remillard unleashed a multitude of combinations on Fassinou and Fassinou tripped to the canvas. Referee Johnny Callas gave Fassinou the count. At the end of round 5, Fassinou had enough of Remillard's body shots and retired at the stool which gave the TKO victory to Remillard. Remillard increases to 25-1, 14 Kos. During a post interview Remillard was asked whom he wanted to fight... his response "Mikey Garcia". Let's bring on that bout.
Welterweights - 6 Rounds: “Marvelous” Mikey Williams of East Hartford, Connecticut fought his 1st scheduled 6 round fight against vs. southpaw Ariel “La Guerra” Vasquez of Nicaragua. Vasquez doing a lot of holding. Vasquez mostly coming forward and Williams keeping him at bay while setting up the jab. Right before the end of the 2nd round Williams backed up Vasquez against his own corner and Vasquez was saved by the bell and ref intervening. After 6 rounds with no knockdowns all 3 judges scored the bout 60-54 in favor of Williams. Williams increased to 7-0, 4 kos. Williams weighed in at 146 pounds.
Female Lightweights – 6 Rounds: Jennifer “The Bolivian Queen” Salinas the former UBF World Super Featherweight champ from Providence, RI vs. Marquita Lee of Novato. Salinas with great head movement jabbin her way in towards Lee while trying to knock her out with the overhead right. Towards the end of the fight it was mostly arm punches. There were no knockdowns during the bout. [Lee previously fought Shelly Vincent in December, 2016 and Lee by UD.] Lee was a tough opponent and made Salinas work. After 6 hard fought rounds the judges scored the bout 59-55; 59-55 and 58-56 all in favor of Salinas by UD. Salinas increases to 20-4-0 and weighed in for the fight at 135 pounds.
Super Welterweights – 4 Rounds: Khiry “TNT” Todd of Lynn, MA vs. Nicolas Sarouna of Lome, Togo. Todd being patient in the ring, continuing going to the body, Sarouna working the jab. At times it got rough in there with tying up. Todd feeling comfortable and at times toying with Sarouna. During round 3 Sarouna goes down to one knee. Referee Johnny Callas stopped the bout at 1:32 and Todd was victorious by KO and advances to 5-0, 5 Kos. Todd weighed in at 153 pounds.
Junior welterweight Jonathan Figueroa out of Hartford, CT was scheduled to fight a 4 round bout but this contest was cancelled.
