Cassius Chaney is Back in Action this Sat, 4-15 at Mohegan Sun

Just a few days away on Saturday, April 15th, the heavyweight of New London, Cassius Chaney (9-0, 5 KOs) will be fighting on the undercard at Mohegan Sun in a 6 round match up against southpaw, Juan Goode (8-4, 6 KOs) from Detroit, Michigan. This bout will not be an easy fight for Cassius.

Pattee Mak: Cassius!!!! Once again you are back at Mohegan fighting another heavyweight by the name of Juan Goode. He won his last 2 bouts. This is the first time he’s fighting up at Mohegan. What do you know about your opponent?

Cassius: I know that he is durable and sorta awkward. He is a older veteran in the sport but I've had great training, so I’m ready.

Pattee Mak: We all know that you switched trainers from local trainer, Peter Manfredo, Sr. to John David Jackson. Why the switch and are you presenting training/living in Florida?

Cassius: The switch was just sort of a misunderstanding but I needed to make a change because of the lack of heavyweights in New England. It was tough to get sparring. I will train in Florida and that’s where most of my time will be spent.

Pattee Mak: I’m actually trying to think of another heavyweight that is near you in New London for sparring and I honestly can’t think of one.

Pattee Mak: You’ve been with Jackson for a few months now. How are things working out between a fighter and a coach?

Cassius: Great! Coach John as I like to say is a athletes coach. If you work hard and show improvement he will tell you and then he will teach and show you. He has been different with me. He has been harder on me which I like because I've always done better when people are on me about my mistakes.

Pattee Mak: Anything different Jackson did in preparation of this fight verses in previous fights you had?

Cassius: This fight he has shown me how to use more of my size and length and we were able to get more boxing this time, so that helped a lot. He also had the strength and conditioning coach, Matt Cedrone. He kills me on the track. Lol

Pattee Mak: LOL.

Pattee Mak: Everyone is looking for the next best fighter in the heavyweight division. Where do you see yourself in the heavyweight division?

Cassius: I see myself as the wild card of the group. I know the potential and toughness is there, I just have to put it all together and I'm learning to do so.

Pattee Mak: For those that want to see you fight. Are you selling tickets?

Cassius: Well my brother is selling them and my manager Allen Hadleman. You can contact them via facebook or buy them at the door.

Pattee Mak: Thanks so much for taking the time out of your busy schedule to chat with me. I look forward to seeing you on this Saturday the 15th.

Cassius: Thank you much appreciated. Anytime.
