November 6, 2016-New York

Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing had 2 of its fighters fighting in featured televised bouts Friday evening.

SHOBOX, California Fight (Bejenaru vs Bujaj)

First up was Constantin Bejenaru, (12-0 3KO'S), Brooklyn, NY, scoring a dominant 10 round decision win over previously unbeaten New Yorker Stivens Bujaj, (16-1-1 11KO's), Bronx, NY. With the victory, Bejanaru captured two prestigious titles, the WBC International and WBC Continental Americas Championships. The bout was televised live on the Showtime network from The Omega Product Event Center in Corona, CA., as part of the popular ShoBox series.

Bejenaru dominated most of the fight utilizing his speed and angles to frustrate Bujaj. Bujaj scored a flash knockdown in the 5th round but Bejenaru showed no ill effects and continued his dominance in the 6th round. It was a hard fought and sometimes dirty fight with numerous headbutts, one of which caused a large hematoma on the right side of Bejenaru's head. Bujaj was also deducted a point for hitting on the break in the 9th round. In the end, all 3 judges had the same scores, 97-91 in favor of the Moldovian fighter Constantin Bejenaru, who has Romania and Moldova excited about their home-grown star.

Promoter Joe DeGuardia had these comments on the fight "I knew this would be a very hard fight for Constantin but I was very confident he would come out on top which he did. He fought a very smart fight and we expect big things from him in the near future".

The bout was co-promoted by Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing and Banner Promotions.

UNIMAS Las Vegas Fight (Saucedo vs Serrano)

The second Star Boxing fighter to fight Friday was Philadelphia's Raymond Serrano, (21-4 9KO'S) who fought a war with undefeated Oklahoman Alex Saucedo, (23-0 14KO's), dropping a close 8 round decision in a Welterweight matchup from the Treasure Island Casino in Las Vegas, NV.

The fight was fast paced from the opening bell with both fighters letting their hands go freely. The second round proved to be a pivotal one for the eventual winner Saucedo as he dropped Serrano in the corner with a 4 punch combination. Serrano withstood the onslaught and fought his way back into the fight scoring with numerous blows as the crowd cheered on both fighters.

The 8th and final round saw terrific two way action as the crowd stood at the sound of the final bell giving both fighters a well-deserved standing ovation.

The judge's cards read 77-74, 77-74, and 76-75 for the winner Saucedo but Serrano should be very proud of his performance in a losing effort.

Promoter Joe DeGuardia shared these thoughts on the fight "Although I was in California with Constantin Bejenaru I was receiving constant updates on the fight. I am very proud of the effort put forth by Raymond. Sometimes in defeat a fighter shows certain qualities which in the long run will benefit his career and this is what Raymond did against one of the top prospects in boxing. Raymond will bounce back and he will beat a lot of guys out there".

The fight was co-promoted by Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing and Top Rank and was televised live on the Unimas network.
