DeLomba Victory by UD; Williams and Figueroa Victory by KO; Gonzalez Victory by TKO & Laureano V


[Ringside] MASHANTUCKET, CT (August 30, 2016) - Cranston, Rhode Island fan favorite "Nice" Nick DeLomba looked fantastic in the ring tonight when he went up against Amos "2 Smooth" Cowart from Groveland, Florida's in a scheduled 8 round main event. Nick fighting well with confidence while Cowart digging deepto the body. Cowart coming forward and eating punches. DeLomba keeping Cowart at bay by his jab. I’m impressed with Nick’s performance in the ring tonight. This is the best I’ve seen of DeLomba. DeLomba landing the cleaner punches. Cornerman continuously telling Nick to shoot “angles”. After 8 rounds the judges scored the bout all in favor of DeLomba, 80-72; 80-72 and 78-74 by UD with Cowart ending up with a bloody nose and a welt under his left eye.

Amos "2 Smooth" Cowart decreased his record to 11-2-1 and “Nice" Nick DeLomba gets the victory and his record goes to 11-1-0, 2 Kos.

Welterweights – 4 Rounds - Amateur stand out and well known boxer, welterweight "Marvelous" Mykey Williams of East Hartford, Connecticut vs David “Spanky” Nelson of Lawton, Oklahoma. Mykey took no time in getting in and doing what he loves to do. Fight! At 24 seconds of round 1, Mykey lands an overnight right, then to the body and dropped Spanky to the canvas. Spanky got Spanked. Mykey winner by KO. If you blinked you missed it. Williams increases to 4-0, 3 Kos.

Featherweights - 4 Rounds - Irvin Gonzalez of Worcester vs. Juan Muniz of Texas. During round 1, Gonzalez looking great in the ring out boxed Muniz with his extremely fast hands and landed body/head combinations as the ref seen too much and stopped the bout at 2:00 in round 1. Winner Gonzalez by TKO. Gonzalez increases to 2-0, 2 KOs.

Welterweights – 4 Rounds – “Action” Anthony Laureano of East Hartford, CT making his pro debut against another fighter also making his pro debut, Nahir Albright of Philly. What a tuff debut for both fighters. Both exchanging punches. Both fighting distance and on the inside with combinations. Both fighters want the win. What a fight to the end with the crowd on their feet. After going the distance of 4 rounds, Laureano wins by majority decision. Judges scored the bout 38-38; 39-37 and 39-37. Whoot Whoot for Laureano. Albright’s corner was complaining after the bout and thought his fighter won.

Junior Welterweights – 4 Rounds - Jonathan "Smooth" Figueroa of Hartford, Connecticut vs. Demetris Williams of Philly. Williams came out strong and rocked Figueroa within seconds of round 1 but didn’t drop him. Williams is trying to KO Figueroa. Figueroa jabbin his way thru round 1. Round 3 both fighters don’t want to engage too much. During round 4 Figueroa backed up Williams and dug deep in the body and dropped Williams to the canvas at 1:58 of round 4. What a great nite for Smooth winner by KO and he’s now 1-0, 1 Ko.

Co-Main Event - Super featherweight – 8 Rounds - Dardan Zenunaj vs. Jose "Shorty" Salinas of New Mexico. After 8 completed rounds of back/forth action with Salinas eye swollen. Judges scored the bout all in favor of Salinas 78-74; 78-74 and 77-75 by UD.

Lightweight – 8 Rounds - Jon "Jonfer" Fernandez of Spain vs. Naciff "Chata" Castillo of Mexico. After 5 of 8 rounds the ref called a halt to the bout at 1:45. Fernandez wins by TKO. Castillo eating a lot of punches to his face.

Lightweights – 8 Rounds - Wesley Ferrer of Brooklyn, NY vs. Angel Figueroa of Lorain, Ohio. After 7 of 8 rounds, referee calls a halt to the bout. Ferrer wins by TKO and keeps his perfect record.
