Gray-Pitts Suffered his 1st Loss, Williams Gets the UD & Wilson/Ball Gets a Majority Draw.

(Mashantucket, Connecticut) Super welterweights – 8 Rounds – Worcester’s Khiary Gray-Pitts started out great against Ian Green of Paterson, New Jersey. This is what Gray-Pitts has been waiting for… a TV bout. Round 1 and round 2 Gray-Pitts controlling the action while hurting Green in the first but Green was setting him up with the jab and boy did he set him up with a left then a right. Gray-Pitts goes down to the canvas. Gets the count and the fight continues, Green continues putting pressure on Gray-Pitts. Gray-Pitts holding on for his life. Referee Arthur Mercante, Jr. stopped the bout at 2:50 of round 2 by TKO. Gray-Pitts suffered his first loss and his record is now 13-1-0, 10 Kos and Green increases to 10-1-0, 8 Kos. Green took this fight last minute.

Welterweights – 6 Rounds – Jimmy Williams of New Haven, Connecticut vs. veteran “Lino” Antonio Fernandes of Brockton, Massachusetts. Williams controlled the fight in the earlier rounds while working the jab and coming forward. In the 4th Lino wasn’t as active as earlier. Lino who switched up his stance trying to keep Williams off point. Lino gave Williams a tough fight but neither fighters went down for the count. Judges scored the bout 58-56; 58-56 and 60-54 for Williams. Williams advances to 12-0-1, 5 Kos and Lino decreases to 7-27-3, 2 Kos.

Middleweights – 4 Rounds – David Wilson of New Haven, Connecticut vs. Kendrick Ball, Jr. of Worcester, Massachusetts. This truly had to be Ball’s toughest fight thus far. Wilson started the bout coming out and went right after Ball. Wilson continuously tried to back up Ball against the ropes. While Ball didn’t want any part of it and switched the action. Both fighters fought a tough fight while trying to go for the knock out. There were no knockdowns. Wilson needed just a tiny bit more power to his punch. Judges scored the bout a majority draw at 39-37 for Wilson; 38-38; 38-38.

Main Event – 10 Rounds: Adam "Mantequilla" Lopez of San Antonio, Texas faced Roman Ruben Reynoso of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Fight goes the distance and is declared a draw. Judges scored the bout 96-94 – Lopez; 97-93 – Reynoso and 95-95.

Co-Main Event – 8 Rounds – Super Middleweights: Jerry Odom of Bowie, MD vs. Julius Jackson of Saint Thomas, Virgin Islands. Round 3 Odom drops Jackson at 1:57 by TKO.

Featherweights – 8 Rounds - O'Shaquie Foster of Houston, Texas vs. Rolando Chinea of Philadelphia, Penn. Fight went the distance and Chinea won by split decision. 79-73 for Chinea; 77-75 for Foster and 78-74 for Chinea.

Lightweights – 4 Rounds - Divante Jones of Augusta, Georgia vs. Anthony Burgin of Philadelphia, PA. Burgin ended up with a bloody nose. Two tough fighters in there. After 4 rounds judges scored the bout in favor of Jones by split decision. 38-38 – Burgin; 38-37 – Jones and 38-37 – Jones.

Super Flyweights – 4 Rounds – Leroy Davila of New Brunswick, NJ of Edgar Cortes of Vineland, NJ. 3rd round Davila knocked down Cortes with a left. After 4 rounds Davila wins by UD. Judges scored the bout 39-36; 39-36 and 40-35.

Lightweights – 4 Rounds – Brent Venegas III of Elk Grove, CA vs. pro debut Christian Foster of Alexandria, VA. 1st round Foster was dropped 2x and Venegas was dropped 1x. Round 2 Venegas didn’t have much defense. Foster wins at 137 by TKO when referee Danny Schiavone stopped the bout. Good call from Schiavone.
