Shelito gets the Majority Decision; Williams Wins by UD & Pro Debut Cobbs gets the TKO Victory

[MASHANTUCKET, CT – Ringside] Three local boxers shined at Foxwood’s tonight. Shelly “Shelito” Vincent of Providence, R.I. came out to the ring as she normally does, with a straight jacket on. After 8 rounds of going the distance against San Antonio's Christina Ruiz of San Antonio, Texas, Vincent gets the victory by majority decision. Vincent keeping her distance from Ruiz and while working her jab. At times both fighters let their hands go. By the 5th round and until the end of the bout they picked up the pace. Both fighters not afraid to throw punches and the crowd as usual was cheering for Shelly. Ruiz landing some great hooks throughout the bout. Judges scored the bout in favor of Vincent by majority decision 76-76; 77-75 and 77-75. Vincent increases to 18-0, 1 Ko and Ruiz 7-9-3, 4 Kos. After Vincent’s victory and won the heart of her girlfriend, pro boxer Jennifer Salinas by asking her to marry her in the ring and she said “YES”.

Welterweights – 4 Rounds – “Marvelous” Mykquan Williams of East Hartford, Connecticut in his 3rd pro fight all being held at Foxwoods. He’s on a winning streak at Foxwoods and tonight is no different when he went up against Isaac Johnson of Colorado. Round 1 Williams is timing his punches and landed a great left hook on Johnson. That left hook was used throughout the fight. Johnson is one tough opponent. During round 3 Williams and Johnson having a back n forth action, each landing their share of punches. Williams’ landing and Johnson counter punching. Both fighters showing their defensive side while slipping punches. At the end of 4 rounds Williams gets the UD with all 3 judges scoring the bout 40-36. Williams increases to 3-0, 2 kos and Johnson decreases to 2-4.

Middleweights – 4 Rounds – Starting the nite off right and making his pro debut, Southpaw Christopher Davis Fogg of Framingham, Massachusetts vs. Jeff Anderson of Lincoln, Rhode Island. It was a fast nite for Davis-Fogg. The fight didn’t go past the first round. Davis-Fogg being the aggressor fighter as he came forward and backed up Anderson in the corner. Anderson didn’t do much to defend himself or get out of the corner. Referee Johnny Callas stopped the bout at 1:24. Davis-Fogg moves to 1-0, 1 KO and Anderson 0-2.

Highlights of other bouts of the nite:

Welterweights – Southpaw Ivan “the Volk” Golub of Brooklyn, New York vs. Ernesto “Fantastico” Ortiz of Cuernavaca, Mexico. Ortiz suffers a low blow in round 1 and Dr. Michael Schwartz is called in to access the damage. Round 2 Fans were routing for Ernesto. The probably felt bad of his low blow. At 2:49 of round 2, Golub lands a left on Ortiz and referee Joey Lupino stops the bout by TKO.

Middleweights – 12 Rounds – Main Event Rounds Sergiy "The Technician" Derevyanchenko of Brooklyn, New York vs. Sam "King" Soliman of Melbourne, Australia. This was an IBF middleweight title eliminator. Soliman gets dropped in the 1st round by a left hand. Dervyanchenko landed rights then followed up with a left and dropped Soliman dangerously to the canvas... Dammmm!!!! Ref Johnny Callas stopped the bout at 2:41 of round 2.

Middleweights – 10 Rounds – 1st TV Bout: Ievgen “The Ukrainian Lion” Khytrov vs. Paul “El Gallo Negro” Mendez of Delano, California. Mendez who ate punches the entire bout lost by TKO after referee Joey Lupino stopped the bout at 1:20 in the 9th and Khytrov keeps his NABF Middleweight title.

Middleweights – 8” Rounds - Alantez “Slyaza” Fox vs. Paul “Chicho” Valenzuela Jr. of Santa Rosalia, Baja California, Mexico. After 6 rounds with Fox controlling the bout, Valenzuela retired at the end of the 6th round. Fox wins by TKO.
