Mark DeLuca

Boston - Murphys Boxing is pleased to announce that we have signed Mark “Bazooka” DeLuca to a promotional contract. DeLuca a U.S. Marine veteran and undefeated middleweight contender knows the meaning of the word sacrifice. With a 6-0 record out of the gate, Mark was on the fast track to a promising pro boxing career. While most in his position would be searching for the big contract and the next big fight, Mark enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he spent 2011 and 2012 in Afghanistan as part of the 1st Division/25th Marines in Alpha Company, choosing service to his country over his personal and professional gain as a pro boxer. After completing his Military Service, he resumed his boxing career. His already strong loyal fan based rapidly continued to grow upon his return.

Mark exploded back onto the scene with a series of viscous KO victories including an impressive win on national TV, courtesy of Fox Sports 1. Boxing however can often test a fighter to the core of his make up. Bad luck and twists of fate after months and months of training can make many fighters lose focus and it can often be hard to overcome, but not for Mark DeLuca. In the past few years Mark has faced several challenges head on with the true strength and courage of a champion.

Marks dad, (Mark DeLuca Sr.) a well respected local Police Chief, was involved in a tragic accident leaving Mark and his siblings to care for him. Mark stood by his dad steadfastly all the while working as hard as ever in the gym. Then one week before what was to be the biggest fight of Mark's career on the undercard of the Degale-Dirrell world title fight, Mark suffered a badly broken hand during sparring. Well, one year and several operations later DeLuca has returned to the ring and picked up right where he left off, with a win this past May. Mark's dad has also made tremendous progress in that time frame and things are really looking up for team DeLuca.

The boxing world is buzzing about Mark’s power and his old fashion throw back style. Mark's work inside the ropes combined with his large Boston area fan base and Marine Corps following are quickly making a DeLuca fight a can't miss event. With 10 devastating knockouts, he has marched through all of his 14 opponents to date in a violent and destructive manner.

In his last fight on May 5th 2016, Mark fought by far the toughest fight of his career against challenging opponent Salim Larbi (20-5-2) at the Memorial Hall in Melrose MA. Suffering the 1st cut of his career in the very first round, Mark showed he could fight through it, as he went on to win a hard fought unanimous decision over 8 tough rounds. Controlling the pace of the fight, Mark routinely got the better of the heated exchanges, staggering Larbi on multiple occasions. DeLuca returns to the ring on July 30th in Plymouth MA. fighting in what will be his biggest test to date , against Gabor Gorbics (19-2 10KOs). Gorbics a fighter much like DeLuca has a come forward style, and aims to turn every fight into an all out affair. Many in the boxing community are predicting an all out war.

“I am very happy to have signed with Murphys Boxing and I look forward to winning a World Championship with them” said Mark DeLuca. “July 30th in Plymouth can’t come quick enough. I can’t wait to give all the fans a great fight” concluded DeLuca.

“All of us at Murphys Boxing are thrilled to have signed Mark DeLuca, this was a long time in the making. This is a guy who has a ton of character and a fighter we believe will win a world championship”, said Ken Casey of Murphy’s Boxing. “July 30th in Plymouth is going to be a wild night of fights. The main event with DeLuca has all the makings of an all out war, you don’t want to miss this night of fights”, concluded Casey.
