Oscar Bonilla Fights 4 the New England Title held by Nick Delomba. Interview Below.

When I spoke with Bonilla (3-1-2) of Bridgeport, Connecticut at the last CES card a few weeks ago, he mentioned to me he’d like to fight the winner of the Delomba/Sanchez bout. Now a few weeks later we have a fight. Bonilla against Nick Delomba (9-1-0) of Cranston, Rhode Island who’s putting up his New England Super Lightweight Title on the line on July 15, Twin River Casino.

Pattee Mak: Before we get into the nitty gritty of your upcoming bout, last I interviewed you there was a meeting of minds between you and Lee Ortega on a management contract. Is that contract now null and void?

Bonilla: Didn't get it done.

Pattee Mak: Are you looking for a new manager or advisor?

Bonilla: All depends on who and what is offered.

Pattee Mak: Why did you want to fight the winner of the Delomba/Sanchez fight?

Bonilla: It'll be my comeback fight after being out for a while and I feel that I want people to see that there's more then what people see in Bonilla.

Pattee Mak: How do you rate Delomba as a fighter?

Bonilla: Very good fighter. He is the champion.

Pattee Mak: Delomba has been a busy fighter. Do you feel this might be an advantage to him?

Bonilla: No not at all.

Pattee Mak: What will be your game plan going into the ring?

Bonilla: I don't have much to say bout that but I'm training for him and I'm sure he's training for me. We will know fight night.

Pattee Mak: You are fighting for his belt. What will that mean to you come the 15th if you are victorious in the ring?

Bonilla: A great victory and a better and bigger opportunity.

Pattee Mak: Contract weight for this fight and rounds?

Bonilla: No more than 140 and it's a 6 rounder.

Pattee Mak: Your little brother, Kevan Bonilla is making his own noise in amateur boxing. What advice do your normally say to him prior to his fights?

Bonilla: Be smart. I try to help him not make the mistakes I made coming up and BE HUMBLE.

Pattee Mak: You started your pro career in 2011 and you only had 6 bouts. Are you looking to change this and be more active?

Bonilla: Yes I am that's what I'm looking for.

Pattee Mak: Thanks so much for this interview. See you on the 15th.

Bonilla: Thank you.
