Injury to opponent forces Gray to change course heading into Friday’s main event title bout

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (Feb. 17th, 2016) – Even with a new opponent standing across the way, Khiary Gray still has an opportunity to wrap another title around his waist Friday night.

Gray’s original opponent, Cameron Rivera, fractured his wrist, so Gray (11-0, 9 KOs) will now face Eduardo Flores (23-19-3, 15 KOs) of Ecuador for the vacant Universal Boxing Federation (UBF) International Junior Middleweight Title in the 8-round main event of CES Boxing’s season debut Friday, Feb. 19th, 2016 at Twin River Casino.

The unbeaten Worcester, Mass., native will be fighting for his second UBF title after defeating Kenton Sippio-Cook in September for the then-vacant UBF Northeast Title. He also carries an 8-fight knockout streak into Friday, which includes 7 first-round knockouts sandwiched around a 2nd-round knockout win over Kevin Cooper in October.

The 29-year-old Flores has won 2 of his last 3 bouts and won 4 of his 7 fights in 2015. He’s also competed for regional titles in the World Boxing Association (WBA) and World Boxing Organization (WBO).

Tickets for CES Boxing’s Feb. 19th season debut are priced at $40, $75 and $125 (VIP) and are available for purchase online at www.cesboxing.com or www.twinriver.com, by phone at 401-724-2253/2254 or at the Twin River Casino Players Club.

The final weigh-in and press conference for Friday’s event will be held Thursday at 4 p.m. at Twin River Casino’s Wicked Good Bar & Grill. This event is open to the public.

Also on Friday’s card, female middleweight Kali Reis (7-5-1, 3 KOs) of Providence returns home for the first time in more than three years to face New Mexico’s Victoria Cisneros (12-18-2, 5 KOs) in the 10-round co-feature for the vacant UBF World Middleweight Title.

Unbeaten Worcester native Freddy Sanchez (7-0, 5 KO) battles Brockton, Mass., vet Antonio Fernandes (7-25-3, 2 KOs) and Alaskan middleweight Fatlum Zhuta (2-0-1, 2 KOs) faces Greg McCoy (3-5-1, 2 KOs) of New Haven, Conn., both in 4-round bouts.

Framingham featherweight Timmy Ramos (2-0-1, 2 KOs) faces pro debut featherweight Tanner Dodd of Robinson, Tex., in a 4-round bout while unbeaten Marlborough, Mass., junior welterweight Julio Perez (3-0) faces Maine’s Josh Parker (0-1-1), also in a 4-round bout. Holyoke, Mass., welterweight Mohamad Allam (1-1), now training out of Framingham, faces Brockton’s Lionel Young (1-2, 1 KO) in a 4-round bout.
