JOSH HIMES IS COMING TO WIN ON THE 13TH. INTERVIEW BELOW.

[Interview by Pattee Mak – January 10, 2016] Cruiserweight Josh Himes (6-1-0, 3 Kos) from Tennessee has an upcoming scheduled bout of 6 rounds on February 13, 2016 against Santos Martinez (2-9-1) at the Mountaineer Casino Racetrack and Resort in Chester, West Virginia.

Pattee Mak: Thanks so much for taking the time for this interview. You are fighting Martinez come the 13th. The fight is just a few weeks away. Martinez is 38 years old, hasn’t won a fight since 2007. If you were a betting man, what are your thoughts on the outcome of this fight?

Himes: Thankfully I am not a betting man, but of course in a biased opinion I would vote in my favor. I am coming for a win, potentially to prepare for a title fight March 5th.

Pattee Mak: You will have to keep me posted on your next fight on the 5th. What do you know about your opponent?

Himes: I know that Martinez is coming to fight and will not lay down.

Pattee Mak: Are you 100% in tip top shape for this fight?

Himes: I’m not where I need to be just yet, but by fight day I most definitely will be in top shape.

Pattee Mak: Tell me about your current status in boxing. Are you in training camp? Who’s training you? Where do you normally train out of? Who’s your manager? Who’s promoting you?

Himes: I was born and raised in the Steel City of Pittsburgh and train in Miami, FL. My gym is the 5th St. Gym in South Beach, former gym of Muhammad Ali, and many world champions. My trainer is Donato De Martiis and current promoter is Made Men Promotions.

Pattee Mak: Your pro debut was in November 2014 and you were kept busy in 2015 with 6 fights. Now in 2016 this will be your 8th fight. Are you looking to be kept as busy in 2016?

Himes: It seems early on I will be just as busy, but after March I believe we will be more selective and not as aggressive.

Pattee Mak: You had one loss against Lamont Capers (4-6-0) back on 5-16-2015 and you lost by UD after 4 rounds. The judges scored the bout 37-38; 37-38 and 36-39. Looking back on this bout do you feel it was a legitimate loss?

Himes: A loss is a part of the game, although I took the loss and used it as fuel to better myself. I cannot make excuses, though I wish the final card said otherwise. It was very exciting to come back to my hometown and fight, I just wish it went in my favor.

Pattee Mak: What sets you apart from other Cruiserweights in your division?

Himes: I am an Italian-American fighter that loves to put on an action packed show. In all but one of my fights I have knocked someone down, keeping the fans on their toes at all times. I also pride myself on being a well-spoken, class-act man, I believe that can separate me from others.

Pattee Mak: HGTV. Tell me more about this.

Himes: My wife [Brynn Marie] and I currently just bought a home in Nashville, TN. HGTV, came to film the process and the hunt for a home on the show “House Hunters”. They also highlighted my lifestyle with boxing, and catching clips of me at the gym. It will air in either May or June, be sure to tune in.

Pattee Mak: It sounds very exciting and congrats on your new home.

Pattee Mak: Last question, what would you like to say to Martinez prior to the fight?

Himes: Good luck, and I wish him well in this upcoming fight.

Pattee Mak: Thanks again for the interview. If someone wanted to follow you or contact you where can they find you?

Himes: Thank you for having me, you can find me on twitter/instagram/facebook @HandsomeHitman.
